Sanders dwarf Kingsville Boxwood (Compacta)

This boxwood is unique among boxwoods for its scentless evergreen leaves that are less than 1/2 inch long. Kingsville Dwarf Boxwood is the most sought after member of the "Buxus" family. It features dark green, tiny leathery leaves, dense growth habits and rough bark which are all the features that make it a good bonsai subject. Sanders cultivar is a little faster growing than straight Kingsville which grow one half to one quarter inch per year! Branches grow horizontally making it look like a miniature version of a 100 year old tree. Box leaves are poisonous, and eating even a few can kill a small pet. As such, be sure to always keep this bonsai out of a child’s or animal’s reach.

A great buy for a beginner in the hobby. A temperate zone tree that some say does not have to have a cold rest in the winter.

As bonsai this species does not like or want much direct sun, does great in bright shade to shade. Very well shaped upright (oak look) style.

Boxwood bonsai are very pest resistant. Now measures 3 inches tall above the rim of the pot.

Shohin sized but very old!
